Obituary for Lillian "Jean" DiGiallonardo

Lillian "Jean" DiGiallonardo
Lillian Jean DiGiallonardo of Broomfield Colorado passed away on April 20, 2017. She was 77 years of age. Lillian was born September 30, 1939 in Shullsburg Wisconsin and was the daughter of Thelma and Charles Berryman. Lillian went by her middle name of Jean. As a young girl Jean moved to Platteville Wisconsin where her father began working for the University of Wisconsin at Platteville.

After graduating from high school in 1957, Jean attended the University of Wisconsin in Platteville WI. While on summer break, Jean and a girlfriend spent the summer in Estes Park, Colorado working at the Meadowdale Guest Ranch. On an evening out with the other ranch employees, Jean met a certain Robert DiGiallonardo at The Rock Inn juke joint. When Robert saw ’the most beautiful girl in the world’, he asked her to dance and something quite special began that evening. After Jean returned home to Platteville at summers end, Robert made several trips from Colorado to Wisconsin for ’his girl’.

The two were married October 19th, 1959. They both attended the University of Northern Colorado where Jean pursued her passion of becoming a music teacher. Jean taught music in the public elementary schools until her retirement at which point she started directing the Sunrise Singers choir at Broomfield United Methodist church.

Jean was dedicated to her work at Broomfield United Methodist Church, enjoyed music and traveled extensively with husband Robert. She was always wanting to help people, was kind, humble, gracious and always with a beautiful smile on her face.

Jean is survived by her husband Robert, daughters Sheila Gallagher of Federal Heights, Cecile DiGiallonardo of Denver, Leah DiGiallonardo of Seattle, WA, brother Charles Berryman of Scales Mound, ILL., nephew Andy Kopacek of Minneapolis MN and many other beloved family members and friends.

A Visitation for Lillian Jean will be held at Broomfield United Methodist Church, 545 West 10th Ave, Broomfield, Colorado 80020 on Wednesday, April 26th, at 10:00 am with a Memorial Service at 11:00 am.
